What makes Resist Bars different from other bars?

best protein bar for diabetes PCOS insulin resistance keto protein bar

There a plenty of protein bars out there. So what makes resist bars different from the rest?

The vast majority of them (even the healthiest bars on the market) contain ingredients from like hormone disruptors, inflammatory ingredients and artificial fillers.

Here are some of those ingredients other bars have, that we don't!

Sugar alcohols...

These sneaky bad guys can be disguised in confusing ingredients like Vegetable Glycerin, which is actually a sugar alcohol, and like all sugar alcohols is proven to kill good gut bacteria. Many other bars will use erythinol, xylitol, or malitol. Sugar alcohols have shown to spike blood sugar, as well, despite being marketed to the diabetes community!

Added sugar...

Almost all bars have added sugar in some form! Whether it's sugar, dates, brown rice syrup, tapioca syrup, coconut sugar, etc. Natural sugar can be great, but it spikes blood sugar in a way that makes me feel like I might as well just eat a cookie -- especially since I want a bar that won't spike my blood sugar like crazy or exacerbate my symptoms. If I'm going to have a cheat meal, it's going to be pasta and ice cream, not a healthy protein bar!

Soy...

Soy contains phytoestrogens. This is something people with PCOS and insulin issues need to avoid since it disrupts hormones, but phytoestrogens don’t just have aversive effects for women.

They can cause people of any sex to produce estrogen excessively, which leads to metabolic problems such as breast growth, weight gain, early menopause, and sexual dysfunction. Excessive intake of phytoestrogens is a major cause for autoimmune disorders of the thyroid and adrenal glands.

Whey protein or animal products...

One: dairy contains hormones. Typical cow’s milk has various hormones, including estrdiol, progesterone, testosterone, 17-ketosteroids, corticosterone, insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), growth hormone (GH) prolactin, oxytocin and others. And while the effect of these hormones needs more research, I didn't want them in my bars!

Two: inflammation. Many people are intolerant to milk and whey protein itself notoriously hard to digest, which leads to inflammation, and/or an upset the stomach.

Three: sustainability! It is better for the environment to limit the intake of animal products. I love that my bars are "guilt-free" for both nutrition and conscience!

"natural flavors"...

Well... oftentimes "natural flavors" are not so natural. Despite the majority of protein bars using "natural" flavors, that manufactured flavor is cheap at the expense of adding plenty of chemicals and solvents.
